Blue light is part of the visible light spectrum and is present in our environment every day.
The largest natural source of blue light is sunlight. In addition, many artificial light sources emit blue light, even if the light does not appear visibly blue to the eye.
Common sources of blue light include:
• Sunlight
• Mobile phones and tablet screens
• Computer monitors and laptops
• Flat screen televisions
• LED lighting
• Fluorescent lighting
• Energy efficient light bulbs
Because digital devices and modern lighting are widely used throughout the day and evening, exposure to blue light is common in both work and home environments.
